For years, the company has been committed to supporting domestic craft breweries entering the market, and it is no coincidence that every fourth bottle of beer on its shelves comes from family and small breweries. In 2022, the supermarket chain became the main sponsor of the deservedly popular Downtown Beer Festival for the first time, with the undisclosed aim of promoting the innovative product range of the best domestic craft breweries not only in its stores, but also at such a large-scale event. The beer selection of the SPAR and INTERSPAR units is so wide precisely because of the diverse needs of customers: in addition to the well-known products of major international brands, Hungarian craft beers are also found on the shelves in one of the largest selections among domestic stores.

Craft beer, street food and music

The Downtown Beer Festival is not only about golden yellow or deep brown, sparkling or silky soft beers. This year's series of events taking place on Budapest's Szabadság Square between August 29 and September 3 will allow you to taste a wide range of street food dishes, there will be musical programs and concerts, and a DJ will provide quality music until the evening closes. This year too, the organizers are preparing many new things: they will bring, for example, the excellence of the most famous English breweries, while they will also present your old favorites and emerging novelties from the domestic flavored beers and IPAs.

Festival Hippie IPA - created based on your votes

The organizers created the festival's official beer again this year, the composition of which was previously voted on by beer fans on the event's social page. The 2023 winner was the 5.6% Festival Hippie IPA based on the sabro-mosaic-amarillo hop combination, whose flavors conjure the atmosphere of tropical orchards in your mouth. You can get the beer specialty at the SPAR Sörház stand in a 0.33 dl can version and on tap, but of course you will also find it on the shelves of SPAR and INTERSPAR stores. And if you want a different taste, you can choose from 15 types of beer, starting with Fehér Núl Turbid, Szent András Napkincs, Frootie Mango IPA, Grumpy Octopus, Monyo Double Sour rise, Mad Scientist JAM72, West Coast, or right up to the flavors of the Hello Sir! series in the SPAR Sörház range.

In 2023, SPAR is also helping festival-goers with a special promotion this year: if you spend HUF 15,000 or more in SPAR, INTERSPAR and City SPAR stores between August 10 and 23, 2023, you will receive a coupon with which you can purchase a 50 percent discount a uniquely designed festival cup during the opening hours of the event, at the card top-up points on Szabadság Square in Budapest.
