The issues and problems that move the world preoccupy many, and there are those who not only think about it, but try to solve it. Plastic flooded the Earth. Slowly decomposing plastic waste is harmful to our environment and our health.

Many people are working on selective waste collection, alternative and environmentally friendly solutions, but we still have room for improvement. Two young Hungarians seem to have a big role to play in this development. Former students of the Budapest University of Technology met in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry and engineering. However, in addition to what they learned there, they longed for more. They wanted to do something lasting for science and the planet. As a result, they embarked on research without regretting time, strength and own resources. As an expert in their field, they looked for a solution to how the world could handle plastic waste.

Two years of work

During their development, they experimented with bacteria until they were able to come up with a cocktail that could break down the plastic in a relatively short time - 6-8 weeks. The new material born after decomposition creates an identical organic sludge. This material is also suitable for the production of bioplastics, which allows plastic packaging to be reused.

Polyloop

Both Vespucci Partners in Budapest and Techstars in the US have invested in the Poliloop startup, and testing has also begun. The startups of the two young Hungarians, Krisztina Lévay and Liz Madaras, have been trying to validate their products since the beginning of 2019, thanks to which several companies have already indicated their interest and cooperation.
